Kherson Nature Resort Fund

Kherson is a quiet, beautiful and compact city in the South of Ukraine. The only sea port on the Dnipro river. The city is situated on the high right bank of the Dnipro, in its picturesque part – mouth – that is immensely beautiful and unique, ad and is a rest-place for Kherson citizens and guests. City’s total area is 6,000 hectares. Forest resources are a real treasure of Kherson. Unique water and forest resources favor creation of ecologically safe situation in the South.
Kherson nature resort fund is presented by resort units of local importance, including the following nature memorials:
- botanic garden of Kherson State University;
- park of boarding school №2;
- arboretum of Kherson State Agrarian University;
- arboretum of Ukrainian Research Institute of Irrigated Cropping;
- coastal and protective belts of the Dnipro (100 m), Koshova and Viryovchina (25 m) rivers.

The following 11 Kherson nature resort fund units of local importance are worth special attention: “Centennial Oak” in 18, Lenin St. (chess club), “Centennial Elm” in Suvorova St. (“Parus” store), “ English Oak” on the corner of Komkova and Rosy Lyuksemburg St. (Agrarian University named after Tsyurupa), “ English Oak” in 31, Dekabrystiv St. (Survorovsky district area), “Centennial Oak” in Lomonosova St. (Fire station of Komsomolskiy district area), “English Oak”, Lenin Park, arboretum in Poltavskaya St. (Regional Lyceum area), botanic garden of Kherson State University in Mykholayivske Shose St., “Centennial Oak” in Poltavska St. (Regional Lyceum building №2), arboretum (Kherson Agrarian University area), arboretum in Beryslavske Shose St.
The city annually takes part in whole-Ukrainian action «Environment Day» for green zones preserving and restoration. Educational institutions, youth and public foundations and city enterprises are involved in the action. Natural Environment Fund bought seedlings of ornamental trees and bushes, that were planted in a newly-laid Tavriyskiy district Park, Lenin Park, Leninskiy Komsomol Park, Slavy Park, on the area of “Krystal” Stadium.
In accordance with Romar international agreement (Iran, 1917) floodplain area of the Dnipro (26 thousand hectares) added on the number of marsh-water grounds of international importance as a habitat of swimming birds.
