Health Protection
Education and health – success securing as for a single person as for the whole society in general. The guardianship over this priceless treasure is performed by the state, but understanding the importance of this problem, the city also develops these spheres, providing additional financing for this purpose.
The system of health protection is presented in the city by 11 city and 17 regional curing-and-preventive institutions.
City curing-and-preventive institutions:
- 3 multifunctional medical institutions;
- TB clinic;
- skin and venereal disease clinic;
- psycho neurological clinic;
- geriatric hospital;
- maternity hospital;
- station of first aid;
- city dental clinic;
- child dental clinic;
- five ambulance stations, which work by the principle of family medicine.
In Kherson the city complex program of reforming of first link of medico sanitary help for citizens by the principle of family medicine for 2007-2010 is held.
With the goal to provide effective arrangements against tuberculosis and to improve significantly epidemic situation the charity marathon “Lets overcome tuberculosis together” was organized, in which the enterprises, bank organizations, institutions, pharmacies, transport companies and city citizens took part.
By the decision of the City council the finance was transferred for fluorograph purchasing for the city TB clinic, and also for medicine purchasing for tuberculosis diagnostic making among children and teenagers.
In city curing-and-preventive institutions there are 1560 places, and annually more than 80 thousand people are treated there.
In Kherson there are also:
- Regional clinical hospital with diagnostic center and regional consulting clinic;
- Regional child clinical hospital;
- Regional cardiologic dispensary;
- Hospital for invalids of the Great Patriotic War;
- Regional mental hospital;
- Regional isolation hospital named after Gorbachevskiy;
- Regional TB dispensary;
- Regional oncologic dispensary;
- Regional narcological dispensary;
- Regional dental clinic;
- Regional center of health and non-traditional medicine;
- Regional station of blood transfusion;
- Regional center of preventive measures and struggle against AIDS;
- Infant house;
- Child sanatorium "Dnipro".
By the activity of clinic departments and by patient treating the alternative little-cost technologies are used, which can serve as substitutes for hospitals (permanent establishments at hospital and home).
In district hospitals the work of preventive self-supporting departments was organized. In these departments the new technologies for disease diagnosing are used. Also the specialized departments work, which perform functions at the city and regional levels.
On the base of the maternity hospital there is a regional “Centre of family planning”. The usage of endoscope methods of operative surgery is spread, the work of implication of genetic monitoring of pregnant women and intrauterine conditions of fetus is made, computer technologies for pregnant women monitoring are used.
At the present time the city is developing the most promising direction of the medicine – providing of medical service by the principle of family doctor. In the city there are 3 ambulance stations by the principle of family medicine, which provide help for more than 7 thousand citizens of farther city districts. These stations are equipped with necessary medical equipment, that’s why each person, who wishes it, has an opportunity to be checked up, to get timely and well-qualified treatment.
