Housing system
Housing stock on the territory of Kherson city council at the beginning of 2008 was 8285,0 thousand square m of total area (94,8% of it – private stock). The stock consisted of 53100 houses, among which there were 87 dormitories. Te total housing area per one citizen was 28,5 square m.
In Kherson there are 11 squares, a wharf of the river Dnipro, more than 150 ha of parks and public gardens, 175 ha of lawns, 10 fountains. The total spread of roads of Kherson with asphalt carpet is 402,7 km (the total square of 2,2 mil. square m), the total spread of nets of exterior lighting – 591,6 km.
99,3% of apartments and one-household houses have water-supply, 84,8% - sewerage system, 82,8% - central heating, 94,9% - gas supply, 74,7% hot water supply.
The housing stock of the city council (4120,9 thousand square m) is operated by 6 companies of different form of ownership, 143 associations of co-owners of apartment houses were created.
Every year the volumes of funds, which are directed into capital construction and reconstruction of units of heating-, water-, gas-supplying and tenant houses, increase.
Service and repairment of lifts, whose number in the city is 1354, is performed by a closed stock company "Khersonlift", a company with limited liability “Spezservis”.
Service of water-supplying and drainaging is performed by the city public utility company "Producing department of water-sewerage system of Kherson".
The source of water-supply in Kherson is an underground sarmat water-bearing horizon. The water inlet is made through 152 artesian wells with the depth from 60 to 100 m. The water-supplying nets have 813,6 km. The pumping stations of water-pipe – 6 units, pumping units – 26. The carrying capacity sewerage system – 250 thousand m3 per day. Sewerage system nets - 284 km.
The state of water-sewerage system is characterized by the deficit of financial resources, which are necessary for correct using and servicing of systems of water-supplying and drainaging, by power intensity and depreciation of equipment as the result of long-term maintenance.
The main consumer of water-supplying and drainaging services is the city population (91,7% and 77,9% correspondingly).
Gas-supplying for the city population is performed by an open stock company “Khersongas", electric energy is performed through the city electric nets by an open stock company “Khersonoblenergo".
Heating is performed by 7 enterprises, the leading ones among them are - a city public utility company "Khersonteploenergo" and an open stock company "Khersonskaya HEN".
Work by current and permanent maintenance of units of external accomplishment is made by 12 contracting organizations, which were considered as winners according the results of tenders in commodity-, work- and service-purchasing.
In the city there are 203 streets, 11 squares, a wharf of the river Dnipro, 591,6 km of nets of external lighting, more than 800 thousand square m of parks and public gardens. Work of providing and reconstructing of external street lighting and traffic light units is performed by a public utility company "Khersonmisksvitlo".
Kherson is growing and developing. This year 8 target funds have been organized for the uniting of citizens’, enterprises’ and companies’ efforts and for joint deciding of urgent problems. For example, such as: “reconstruction and fixing of Suvorov Street”, “Reconstructing-repairing work of Svyato-Uspenskiy Cathedral”, “Lighting of the city of Kherson”, “Fund for tuberculosis controlling”, etc.
